A Word From the Executive DirectorGiving To Help Homeless Lags 12/19/2005
As Americans have opened their hearts and pocketbooks to help victims of natural disasters around the world, aid for homeless and hurting individuals here at home has declined. There are good reasons to give to help victims of tsunamis and hurricanes, but I'm concerned about the people in Rockford who are enduring their own personal storms. They need the best possible care as well. Rockford Rescue Mission's income for 2005 is down 22% compared to last year but more people are coming to the mission for help so expenses are up. We are grateful to the good people of Rockford and the Rock River Valley who continue to remember the mission in their charitable giving. It seems every time we walk someone back into the community, another needy person shows up at the mission's door. Please prayerfully consider how you can help before December 31.
