A Word From the Executive DirectorRefuge from the Cold 8/24/2005
The warmer weather has come to an end and the fall and winter seasons are before us. For those of us serving at the Rescue Mission that means increased efforts to provide warm shelter, clothing and hot, sustaining meals. Many of those we serve have used all their energy and strength to stay warm as they travel from place to place on foot. I am not a cold weather person and so the thought of having to exist in the outside elements for any length of time after the temperature dips is not a pleasant thought for me. I can only imagine what it must feel like to have no refuge from the cold. Thank God for the Mission and for the opportunities He gives us to serve by providing the basic needs of the hungry and homeless while also sharing the love of Christ to all who are hurting. We are blessed to share because hundreds of ministry partners have offered prayers, given financial gifts and put their compassion in action by volunteering. Thank you for taking the time to visit our web site. Please accept my personal invitation to tour our facility at 715 West State Street in Rockford, Illinois. You will see just how the Mission rescues, recovers and restores broken lives! |
