Volunteer Agreement

Background Check Authorization (Required)

Because children reside at RRM, our insurance carrier requires that all individuals be processed through the U.S. Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Registry. I understand that my name will be processed through the database once my application is received and annually as long as I am a RRM volunteer.

I also understand that RRM may obtain a background report as part of the process for considering me as a volunteer. I hereby authorize RRM to obtain background reports about me as described above for the purpose of qualifying me for volunteering and placement. I release RRM and all other entities from which these reports are obtained from any claim or liability related to obtaining, compiling or releasing such reports. I also agree that this authorization and release will remain on file for the term of my volunteering and will serve as an ongoing authorization to obtain reports related to my volunteer service.

I certify that the information contained in this application is true and has been given voluntarily. My signature indicates my consent, or the consent of my group, to abide by the standards of Rockford Rescue Mission.

Statement of Faith

► We believe the Scriptures to be the verbally inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith, practice, and rule of life (II Timothy 3:16,17).

► We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, John 10:30, John 4:24).

► We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35); His shed blood for atonement (Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14); His bodily resurrection (John 11:25); His ascension (Acts 1:11); His advocacy (I Timothy 2:5, I John 2:1); and His personal, soon return to earth to consummate His kingdom (John 14:3, Revelation 11:15).

► We believe that God the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, regenerates the sinner, secures, assures, indwells, teaches and enables the believer to live a Godly life (John 16:8, John 3:5, Ephesians 4:30, I John 3:19, I Corinthians 6:19, John 14:26, Romans 8:26,27, Galatians 5:16, Romans 8:14).

► We believe that all are sinners by nature (Psalm 51:5); by choice (Isaiah 53:6); and by practice (Romans 3:23); depraved and lost, making it necessary to be born again (Isaiah 1:4-6, John 3:3, Romans 3:9-20, Ephesians 2:3).

► We believe that all are justified on the grounds of repentance and faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 1:15, Acts 13:39); apart from good works (Ephesians 2:8, 9).

► We believe in the eternal hope of the believer (John 10:28, 29) with a continued relationship to God (Romans 8:38-39, Colossians 1:27, John 5:24).

► We believe that Christ’s church is constituted of all true believers and is organized into local, visible congregations (with which we identify) for the purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 18:20, (Acts 2:41-42, Hebrews 10:25, Matthew 28:19,20).

► We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto a resurrection of life, and the lost unto a resurrection of damnation (Daniel 12:2, John 5:28-29).

► We believe all shall stand before the judgment seat of Christ in Heaven where the righteous will receive reward and will dwell forever with the Lord (II Corinthians 5:10). We believe that Hell is a place of conscious eternal punishment of all unsaved (Matthew 25:26, Revelation 20:7-10, I Corinthians 10:13).

► We believe that Satan is a person whose purpose is to deceive the unsaved, to tempt and mislead the saved, who will finally be overthrown by Christ, and cast into hell (Genesis 3:13-14, I Peter 5:8, Hebrews 2:14, Romans 16:20, I John 3:8, Matthew 25:41, Revelation 20:7-10, I Corinthians 10:13).

► We believe in the Biblical standard of the worth and dignity of every individual human being, and their right to live; including newly born and unborn children. We therefore oppose the support of abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, assisted suicide, and the killing of unborn children (Jeremiah 1:4-5, Isaiah 49:1-5, Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 9:5-6, Psalm 139:13-14, Galatians 1:15; Mark 12:28-34, James 3:9).

Statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality

► We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complimentary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

► We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: The uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 2:18-25). We believe God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman as husband and wife who are married to each other (I Corinthians 6:18, I Corinthians 7:2-5, Hebrews 13:4).

► We believe God reserved sexual activity solely for marriage between a man and a woman. Sexual activity outside of marriage between husband and wife is sinful and offensive to God (Matthew 15:18-20).

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Rockford Rescue Mission and to provide a biblical role model to employees, volunteers, residents and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Rockford Rescue Mission in any capacity agree to and abide by this Statement of Marriage, Gender and Sexuality (Matthew 5:16, Philippians 2:14-16, I Thessalonians 5:22).

► We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21, Romans 10:9-10, I Corinthians 6:9-11).

► We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the statements/policies of Rockford Rescue Mission (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31)

Statement of Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct

► The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality and the proper conduct of all people, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For the purpose of Rockford Rescue Mission’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Directors is Rockford Rescue Mission’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application (Genesis 2:24, Genesis 19:13-15, Leviticus 18:1-30, Romans 1:26-29, Romans 7:2, I Corinthians 5:1, 1 Corinthians 6:9, 1 Corinthians 7:10, Ephesians 5:22-23, I Thessalonians 4:1-8, Hebrews 13:4).
