Foundation Awards $10,000 Grant to Rockford Rescue Mission

The Swedish American Foundation is pleased to announce it has awarded the Rockford Rescue Mission today with a $10,000 grant to support its new Works! Center. The Center is an education and job skills training program for Rockford Rescue Mission guests and residents as well as the general public.

Rockford has a high school graduation rate of only 60 percent, and unemployed individuals often lack basic employable job skills and a positive employment record. The new Works! Center will provide education and job training classes for individuals in the community who seek to improve their employment opportunities, and will facilitate connections between employers and skilled job seekers to boost regional economic growth and productivity.

The Foundation’s $10,000 grant will support the job skills training program and allow the Rockford Rescue Mission to offer the program free of charge. Additionally, the grant will help fund educational materials and facilitate connections between employers and skilled job seekers.
