FACILITIES

 

Facilities Assistant (full-time)

Maintain safe, secure and clean facilities in compliance with all applicable standards and requirements. Complete preventive and ongoing maintenance and repairs of Rockford Rescue Mission buildings, properties and equipment. Properties include four Rockford locations. The right candidate will have experience in building and property maintenance, HVAC and construction.

Qualifications

Maintenance: 2 years (preferred)

 

FOOD SERVICE

 

Cook (part-time)

To prepare and cook meals for residents and guests of Rockford Rescue Mission.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement high school or GED.
  • Must have a food sanitation certificate.
  • Must work required hours.
  • Must adhere to Rockford Rescue Mission policies.
  • Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities. Must take an active part ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all Mission employees, volunteers and guests.
  • Batch cooking, 2 years (preferred)
  • Food handler (preferred)

 

Driver (part-time)

Safely and courteously pick up donations from designated donors and deliver to RRM. Determine whether a donation can be accepted and communicate to each donor. Assist in loading and loading of goods and donations. Operate Mission vehicles in a safe manner at all times, complying with the laws and policies.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class C driver’s license or above.
  • Clean driving record.

 

Stocker (part-time)

Manage incoming donations, store food properly and in a timely manner. In addition, the Stocker will keep the Receiving Area clean and organized. Incorporate new food and supply donations with current stock. Rotate stock according to “use by” dates: first in, first out. Assist with unloading vehicles. Accept donations at the donation door using proper procedure and documentation. Maintain a neat and orderly Receiving Room.

Qualifications

  • Good organizational skills
  • Proficient in computer software such as, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate compassion toward the poor, needy and homeless.
  • Demonstrate character traits of integrity, trustworthiness, responsibility, etc.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities.
  • Must take an active part ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all Mission employees, volunteers and guests.

 

MEN’S CRISIS

 

Evening and Weekend Coordinator (part-time)

Minister to the social, emotional, mental and physical needs of homeless individuals seeking services. Supervise and coordinate client activities. Oversee the safety and security of all Crisis Program guests, visitors and volunteers within the Rockford Rescue Mission facility. Maintain a nonthreatening, drug- and alcohol-free environment. Utilize conflict resolution amid guest or resident disputes. Enforce program principles and procedures in a spirit of compassion and respect. Document any and all corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be compassionate toward the poor, needy and homeless.
  • Must display respect, gentleness and accountability when interacting with the Crisis Program guests and Recovery Program residents.
  • Must be teachable and function as a team player; willing to resolve any conflicts with others (staff, volunteers, etc.) in the appropriate and acceptable fashion as expected at RRM. Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and at off-site facilities.
  • Must take an active part in ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all Mission employees, volunteers and guests.

 

MEN’S LIFE RECOVERY

 

Night and Weekend Coordinator (part-time)

Minister to the social, emotional, mental, and physical needs of individuals enrolled in the Men’s Life Recovery Program. Supervise and coordinate resident activities. Maintain a non-threatening, drug, and alcohol-free environment. Ensure program principles and procedures are met with a spirit of compassion and respect.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be compassionate towards the poor, needy and homeless.
  • Must display respect, gentleness, accountability when interacting with the Crisis Program guests and Recovery Program residents.
  • Must be teachable and function as a team player; willing to resolve any conflicts with others (staff, volunteers, etc.) in the appropriate and acceptable fashion as expected at RRM. Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and at off-site facilities.
  • Must take an active part in ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all Mission employees, volunteers and guests.
  • Computer Skills: 1 year preferred

 

PROGRAMS

 

Performing Arts Coordinator (part-time)

Coordinate activities in the Performing Arts Center to enhance the spirit of worship throughout the Mission’s culture. Facilitate weekly music class for residents, emphasizing the importance of worship and providing exposure to various instruments and styles of music. Facilitate weekly individual music lessons for residents, enabling them to explore music as a means for worship, healing and expression. Prepare residents to perform group musical selections for annual Restoration Celebrations and other events as requested. Incorporate the use of the recording studio as a means of instilling confidence in the residents and for the production of promotional materials. Build relationships with individuals in the arts and church community as a means of enlisting volunteer instructors to teach piano, voice, guitar, drums, dance, etc. Foster partnerships with Rockford Symphony Orchestra, Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center and other organizations within the arts community to provide quarterly music outings for residents. Oversee the upkeep of all instruments and equipment in the Performing Arts Center and communicate needs to Chief Program Officer.

  • Worship music, 5 years (required)
  • Music instruction, 3 years (preferred)
  • Driver’s license (preferred)

 

WOMEN’S CRISIS

WOMEN’S LIFE RECOVERY

 

Guest Advocate (part-time)

Case manage assigned residents by providing a comprehensive assessment that addresses the resident’s physical, emotional and spiritual health, support systems, educational needs and financial resources. Develop trusting relationships with residents to help them achieve set goals. Actively participate in the character growth and development of residents. Offer advocacy and referral services. Provide assistance, encouragement, motivation and spiritual direction. Monitor safety and security of residents, visitors and volunteers. Display strong work ethic, a sense of social accountability and be a Christian example to residents, staff and guests.

Qualifications

  • A four-year bachelor’s degree, CADC certified, and two years’ experience or an equivalent amount of knowledge and experience in addiction recovery and Christian discipleship is required.
  • Have a teachable spirit and be committed to team participation.
  • Must be able to function well under pressure, maintaining a Christlike attitude of kindness, compassion and respect toward others.
  • Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and at off-site facilities. Must take an active part ensuring the safety, health and well-being of all Mission employees, volunteers and guests.
  • Be receptive to continued education in areas of recovery, counseling and spiritual maturity and discipleship; and the completion of CADC or NCRS certification if needed.

Aftercare Coach (part-time)

Create, implement and manage an effective Aftercare program for residential and non-residential Stage 4 participants. Continue to develop the program. Develop an alumni association to provide ongoing support to current residents. Promote RRM in the community. Travel to Aftercare Program residents’ homes, workplaces, churches, etc. Indoor office environment, requiring sitting at a desk and doing computer work. May involve some lifting and moving of equipment, boxes, etc.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to follow the “Four Life-Changing Practices” of the recovery program.
  • Active participation in a local Christian fellowship/church.
  • A four-year degree in a human services-related field is preferred or the equivalent work experience.
  • Computer knowledge so as to easily utilize our system to produce reports and to learn to use the Mission’s case management system.
  • Must be able to function well under pressure, maintain a Christlike attitude of kindness, compassion and respect toward others.
  • Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and at offsite facilities. Must take an active part in ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all Mission employees, volunteers and guests.

 

Evening/Weekend Coordinator (part-time)

Minister to the social, emotional, mental and physical needs of all Recovery Program clients. Oversee the safety and security of residents, clients, visitors and volunteers within the RRM facility. Guide resident activities. Utilize program principles in a spirit of compassion and respect. Demonstrate non-threatening, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.

Qualifications

  • Must have a strong, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Minimum requirement high school diploma or GED.
  • Must demonstrate compassion toward the poor, needy and homeless.
  • Must have strong leadership qualities and demonstrate character traits of integrity, trustworthiness, responsibility, etc.
  • Must display respect, gentleness and accountability when interacting with the Recovery Program clients.
  • Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and at off-site facilities.
  • Must take an active part in ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of all Mission employees, volunteers and guests.
  • Must be teachable and function as a team player.
