ADMINISTRATIVE

Front Desk Receptionist (part-time afternoons)

To make every person who comes into contact with Rockford Rescue Mission, either by telephone or in person, to feel welcomed, encouraged and served in a Christlike manner. Operate the telephone/intercom system as required. Answer telephone, determine the nature of the call and transfer or relay the information to the appropriate department. Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent information. Report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate director or supervisor. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility. Answer the front door as needed and direct visitors according to the need. Assist with general Mission information, etc.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with the public.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Familiarity with office equipment and operations.
  • Good phone skills.
  • Broad level of understanding of the programs and functions of the Mission.

NETTIE’S MERCANTILE

Retail Associate and Barista (part-time)

We are looking for a Retail Associate and Barista to provide excellent customer service for our business. Candidates with strong communication skills who can make customers feel welcome in our store will stand out. You will help identify client needs, present and answer questions about our products and services and recommend solutions. Ultimately, you will ensure that customers leave our store satisfied.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or work equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate store policy and procedure in a Christlike manner.
  • Knowledge of Mission’s history and philosophy and ability to communicate such to customers.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of basic math.

 

Lead Associate (full-time)

Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer, supervise Nettie’s staff to provide exemplary customer service. Assist with retail operations, food and beverage preparation and housekeeping duties. Requires knowledge of kitchen equipment. Requires working in and around hot and cold environments (stoves, coolers, freezers) and handling of sharp objects. Requires standing for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Management and/or retail experience preferred.
  • Strong work ethic using time productively to accomplish work goals.
  • Familiarity with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures in the restaurant/retail field.
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques.
  • Ability to coach and direct the work of others by established supervisory practices and procedures.
  • Demonstration of a calm exterior during high volume periods or unusual events.
  • Promotion of team-building practices.
  • Ability to independently manage store operations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

THRIFT STORE

Floor Associate/Cashier (part-time)

The Floor Associate’s responsibility is assist customers in the checkout process in an efficient and Christlike manner. Also assist in the preparation of cash register drawers. Maintain the appearance of the sales floor by ensuring the continual maintenance of all areas. Such maintenance includes replacing/rearranging merchandise throughout the day to ensure everything is in the proper place & displayed in a neat, shopper-friendly way. Assist with timely transition from season to season and in the pricing of merchandise. Dress windows to attract customers and reflect the seasons. Maintain appearance of the selling floor. Reflect the current season by displays and floor layout. Ensure that displays are changed on a regular basis. Plan and direct activities of sales floor staff and volunteers. Assist with other duties as assigned. Greet each customer as they enter the store.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED, or the work equivalent.

FACILITIES

Facilities Associate (full-time & part-time)

Maintain safe, secure and clean facilities in compliance with all applicable standards and requirements. Complete preventive and ongoing maintenance and repairs of Rockford Rescue Mission buildings, properties and equipment. Properties include four Rockford locations. The right candidate will have experience in building and property maintenance, HVAC and construction.

Maintenance: Two years (preferred)

 

 

FOOD SERVICE

Cook (full-time & part-time)

To prepare and cook meals for residents and guests of the Rescue Mission.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement high school or GED.
  • Must have a food sanitation certificate.
  • Work required hours.
  • Adhere to the policies of Rockford Rescue Mission.
  • Engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities. Must take an active part ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all of Mission employees, volunteers and guests.
  • Batch cooking, two years (preferred).
  • Food handler (preferred).

 

 

Stocker (part-time)

Manage incoming donations, store food properly and in a timely manner. In addition, the Stocker will keep the Receiving Area clean and organized. Incorporate new food and supply donations with current stock. Rotate stock according to “Use By” dates, first in first out. Assist with unloading vehicles. Accept donations at the donation door using proper procedure and documentation. Maintain a neat and orderly Receiving Room.

Qualifications

  • Good organizational skills.
  • Proficient in software such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Compassion toward the poor, needy and homeless.
  • Character traits of integrity, trustworthiness, responsibility, etc.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities.
  • Take an active part ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all Mission employees, volunteers and Mission guests.

 

 

MEN’S CRISIS

Evening and Weekend Coordinator (part-time)

Minister to the social, emotional, mental and physical needs of homeless individuals seeking services. Supervise and coordinate client activities. Oversee the safety and security of all Crisis Program guests, visitors and volunteers within the Rescue Mission facility. Maintain a non-threatening, drug- and alcohol-free environment. Utilize conflict resolution amidst guest or resident disputes. Enforce program principles and procedures in a spirit of compassion and respect. Document any and all corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement high school diploma or GED.
  • Compassion toward the poor, needy and homeless.
  • Must display respect, gentleness and accountability when interacting with the Crisis Program guests and Recovery Program residents.
  • Be teachable and function as a team player; willing to resolve any conflicts with others (staff, volunteers, etc.) in the appropriate and acceptable fashion as expected at RRM. Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities.
  • Take an active part in ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all Mission employees, volunteers and guests.

 

 

MEN’S LIFE RECOVERY

Night and Weekend Coordinator (part-time)

Minister to the social, emotional, mental and physical needs of individuals enrolled in the Men’s Life Recovery Program. Supervise and coordinate resident activities. Maintain a non-threatening, drug- and alcohol-free environment. Ensure program principles and procedures are met with a spirit of compassion and respect.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement high school diploma or GED.
  • Compassion toward the poor, needy and homeless.
  • Must display respect, gentleness, accountability when interacting with the Crisis Program guests and Recovery Program residents.
  • Be teachable and function as a team player; willing to resolve any conflicts with others (staff, volunteers, etc.) in the appropriate and acceptable fashion as expected at RRM. Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities.
  • Take an active part in ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all Mission employees, volunteers and guests.
  • Computer skills: One year preferred

 

 

PROGRAMS

Performing Arts Coordinator (part-time)

Coordinate activities in the Performing Arts Center to enhance the spirit of worship throughout the Mission’s culture. Facilitate weekly music class for residents emphasizing the importance of worship and providing exposure to various instruments and styles of music. Facilitate weekly individual music lessons for residents, enabling them to explore music as a means for worship, healing and expression. Prepare residents to perform group musical selections for annual Restoration Celebrations and other events as requested. Use the recording studio as a means of instilling confidence in residents and for production of promotional materials. Build relationships with individuals in the arts and church community as a means of enlisting volunteer instructors to teach piano, voice, guitar, drums, dance, etc. Foster partnerships with Rockford Symphony Orchestra, Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center and other organizations within the arts community to provide quarterly music outings for residents. Oversee the upkeep of all instruments and equipment in the Performing Arts Center and communicate needs to Chief Program Officer.

Qualifications

  • Worship music, five years (required)
  • Music instruction, three years (preferred)

WOMEN’S CRISIS

Provide assistance, encouragement, motivation and direction to all Crisis guests. Monitor the safety and security of Crisis guests, visitors and volunteers. The exemplary candidate will have compassion for the needy and homeless population.

  • A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Compassion toward the poor, needy and homeless.
  • Christian character traits of integrity, trustworthiness, responsibility, etc.

WOMEN’S LIFE RECOVERY

Guest Advocate (part-time)

Case manage assigned residents by providing a comprehensive assessment that addresses the resident’s physical, emotional and spiritual health, support systems, educational needs and financial resources. Develop trusting relationships with residents to help them set and achieve goals. Actively participate in the character growth and development of residents. Offer advocacy and referral services. Provide assistance, encouragement, motivation and spiritual direction. Monitor safety and security of residents, visitors and volunteers. Display strong work ethic, a sense of social accountability and be a Christian example to residents, staff and guests.

Qualifications

  • A four-year bachelor’s degree, CADC certified, and two years’ experience or an equivalent amount of knowledge and experience in addiction recovery and Christian discipleship.
  • Have a teachable spirit and be committed to team participation.
  • Ability to function well under pressure, maintaining a Christlike attitude of kindness, compassion and respect toward others.
  • Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities. Must take an active part ensuring the safety, health and well-being of all of Mission employees, volunteers and guests.
  • Be receptive to continuing education in areas of recovery, counseling and spiritual maturity and discipleship; and the completion of CADC or NCRS certification if needed.

 

Evening/Weekend Coordinator (part-time)

Minister to the social, emotional, mental and physical needs of all Recovery Program clients. Oversee the safety and security of residents, clients, visitors and volunteers within the RRM facility. Guide resident activities. Utilize program principles in a spirit of compassion and respect. Demonstrate non-threatening, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.

  • A strong, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Minimum requirement high school diploma or GED.
  • Compassion toward the poor, needy and homeless.
  • Strong leadership qualities and character traits of integrity, trustworthiness, responsibility, etc.
